Evolve is about choice and tailoring the program to suit your needs. Workout variety, four trainers with distinct teaching styles, and the ability to choose our custom DJ-designed music or your own playlist all make each workout unique to your mood on any given day.
Yes you can. Evolve believes that music is a key part of keeping its members motivated to move. Each workout can be performed while listening to your own original iTunes playlist, the original Evolve DJ-mixes or simply the trainer’s voice.
Evolve is inclusive of all fitness abilities, and every Evolve member is encouraged to take a fit test in order to determine which level is right for them. In addition, Evolve recommends a very clear sequence of workouts for its members, so that balanced results are simple to attain. There are five different types of workouts in Evolve: Strength, Core, Agility, Stretch and Sports. For guidance, Evolve recommends a strategic workout order and automatically suggests the best workout for that day based on a user’s last activity. That said, Evolve will soon offer alternate sport specific workouts you can select on your Sports day (eg. Tennis and Golf) and different stretch workouts for your Stretch day (eg. Yoga). And Evolve will regularly be updated with new options for members to choose from (ie. new sports-specific and stretch-specific workouts).
Evolve is inclusive of all fitness abilities and currently has three levels that get increasingly more advanced: Evolve Basics, Evolve I, and Evolve II. And within those levels, there are three modifications of each exercise (easy, medium, hard), allowing users to ‘Evolve up’ or ‘Mod down’ in each movement to suit individual strengths and weaknesses. If you have little or no experience with functional fitness, start with Evolve Basics to learn the principles of primal movements and then gradually work your way up as you improve your technical and physical fitness.
Absolutely. Not only will Evolve II push you to your physical limits, it will address any weaknesses and/or imbalances in your body and thus make you a better athlete.
There are currently three progressive Evolve levels: Evolve Basics, Evolve I and Evolve II. Within each program, there are three variations of each exercise (called modifications or ‘mods’) so that the same movement can be performed at an easy, medium, or difficult level. Evolve encourages users to “Evolve up” or “Mod down” from one exercise to the next in order to recognize individual strengths and weaknesses.
Evolve will help improve core aspects of cardiovascular fitness, strength, agility, power, and flexibility. These core components make up a well-rounded fitness program, resulting in better ADL (activities of daily living).
Evolve exists to get your body moving. The sedentary nature of modern day life has resulted in the now ubiquitous truism that ‘sitting is the new smoking’. Our bodies were built to move. Evolve’s mission is to give its members the tools and motivational content to help them live healthier and happier lives through movement.
While you could focus your workouts on certain exercises that target upper body strength, Evolve is a program rooted in the philosophy of functional fitness and primal movements. As a result, Evolve encourages its members to develop functional bodies by following the recommended workouts as determined by your workout selector. If a member is focused on certain goals (for example: flexibility, developing sports-specific movements or strengthening their core to compensate for chronic lower-back pain) the Evolve workout selector allows its members to tailor their workout sequences to best suit their individual goals.

To start a workout, click ‘Workout’ on the left-hand menu bar after logging in. You’ll now be on the workout selector screen. Evolve will suggest a workout highlighted in gold based on the last workout you completed. To follow Evolve’s recommended path, keep this workout selected. To choose a different workout, click on one of the other workout icons. From there, toggle between the trainers until your trainer of choice is in the front position. Next, choose the length that works for you and select from the music options: our music, a playlist from your iTunes, or the trainer’s voice alone. Lastly, click ‘begin’ to start your workout.
To avoid unwanted pauses on your iPhone or iPad, turn on the ‘lock’ feature by clicking on the lock icon to the right of the bottom video player bar. To disengage the lock, click on the same lock icon and your touch screen will once again be active.
Once you’re in the workout, there are two volume controls on your video player screen: one vertical control at the top right-hand corner to change your iTunes playlist volume, and one horizontal control in the bottom bar to raise or lower the trainer’s voice. Toggle both levels until you find the mix that works for you.
To access tutorials, tap your iPad or iPhone screen, or click on any desktop screen during any workout. The video will pause and tutorials to choose from will appear. Click on the mod that’s right for you and a tutorial video will pop up to breakdown the movement step-by-step. If you’ve seen enough before the video ends, tap or click outside of the tutorial player to resume your workout.
To download a travel pack workout, first make sure you are connected to an internet source. Then, visit ‘Travel Packs’ under the Explore section of the left-hand side menu. Travel Packs are a great feature for offline work outs, but they do need to be downloaded while connected to an internet source. Plan ahead, download your favourite workouts, and Evolve anywhere, anytime – on or offline.
